Gold Seal of Approval Among Retirement Communities Across the Country
With a vision of flexible growth to accommodate variable future needs, Central DuPage Health Systems selected EGA to design a master plan for Wyndemere Senior Living Campus. Located on a site in the western Chicago suburb of Wheaton, the first phase opened with one-, two- and three-bedroom independent living apartment homes joining spacious commons areas and many amenities, including under-building parking for residents. Designed as a central landscape and water feature, as well as to control site runoff, the large courtyard lake also serves as the principal focus for all of the major commons spaces.
Future phases in the completed master plan included provisions for an additional 180 independent dwellings, expanded commons, a 60 bed skilled nursing center and 26 town homes. Years later EGA was asked to design Westbridge, an Assisted Living facility containing 77 one-bedroom units in a plan contiguous to Wyndemere. Though this varied from the original master plan due to the changing market, the earlier pre-planning efforts allowed for a seamless integration of the facility into the existing campus.
